Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment (ESIA) for the laying of 36 Kms Safaricom Fibre Optic Cable in Lavington, Dagoretti and Karengata areas.

Environtech Consultancy Africa Ltd was contracted by Centurion Cable network ltd in association with Safaricom Ltd to carry out Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment (ESIA) on the proposed 36.226 Kms of Safaricom ltd fibre extension installation project in Kajiado County. The project included two sections:-
Section 1: The proposed installation starts in Lavington Area behind/near the Nakumatt Junction along Ngong Road. The proposed installation of Safaricom fibre optic cable is supposed to start along Kingara Road (Lavington) and continue toward and along Ngong Road (Metrological department Headquater) through Ndagoreti Area to Karen Mwitu (Karen). Along Ngong Rd, the installation will branch toward Jamuhuri Park along Jamuhuri Park Road while the other parts continue along Ngong Road.
Section 2: The proposed Safaricom fibre optic cable installation started in Karen Handy Area through Ushiraka Road towards Cooparative College of Kenya (Karen) via Maasai road, Bogani road toward Catholic University, past Catholic university to join Magadi Rd. From Magadi Road the proposed installation will move toward Onyonka (Lang’ata) via magadi Rd, Lang’ata Rd, Kungu Karumba Rd and Kitengela Road.
ECA successfully completed the ESIA study project and the client was issued with NEMA EIA license permitting Safaricom Ltd to undertake and implement the proposed project.
